Environmentally conscious is a big word. That is why we explain exactly what we do, and what we do not.

What we do

• No new fabric. Not a single metre of extra fabric is woven or dyed for our cushions. We only use leftover fabric from our own furniture production, which would otherwise end up as waste.
• No extra transport for the fabric. The leftover fabric is already in our workshop in Cuijk. It does not need to be shipped in from a factory.
• Long-lasting. Sunbrella® fabric is solution-dyed acrylic: the colour is in the fibre and does not fade. A cushion that lasts for years does not need replacing every season.
• Washable covers. The cover comes off the inner cushion and can go in the washing machine. Dirt is no reason to throw the cushion away.

What we do not claim

• Our fabric is not recycled. It is new brand fabric that was left over as a remnant. Reusing leftover fabric is not the same as recycling.
• The inner cushion is made of new hollow fibre (polyester). For outdoor use there is still no better alternative that resists mold and moisture just as well.
• Shipping costs energy. We ship with PostNL, in one parcel per order.

Why we do this

It did not start with an environmental plan, but with a simple annoyance: beautiful brand fabric going into the skip. We thought that was a waste. Making cushions from that leftover fabric is the most logical way to still do something good with it. Also read how we limit waste in the cutting process.
